Sacramento Auto Museum Could Get Permanent Home

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The Sacramento Auto Museum may finally get a permanent home. The city of Sacramento is in negotiations to sell land on Front Street to the museum, which had leased the land since 1987.

The city refused to renew the lease and hoped to build new residential and office space in the area. That didn't happen, so the museum is back in play.

"Having a permanent home for the museum is everything. We can all of a sudden realize investments from donors and really see some capital improvements that we've never been able to make," said Karen McClaflin, the museum's executive director.

Museum officials hope to begin tearing down their current home in the fall to make way for a new three-story facility which could cost more than $10 million.
