Police Release Sketch Of Sacramento Sexual Assault Suspect
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Police have released the description and a sketch of a man suspected of assaulting a woman in Sacramento earlier this week.
The incident happened in the early morning hours on Tuesday near 14th and G streets.
Kevin Hanson lives in the Mansion Flats neighborhood, not far from where the sexual assault occurred. The idea of something traumatic like this happening down the street makes him wish he would have been able to stop it.
"My girlfriend is walking around here all the time," Hanson said. "I just think if that was my girlfriend – I'd want someone to help."
Though even though he couldn't physically help, he and the rest of the community still can by being on the lookout for the suspect.
The attacker is described by police as a heavy-set African American man around 5 feet 9 inches tall, with puffy cheeks, and a tattoo on his left knuckles. He's in his late 20's or early 30's. He was wearing a black beanie, a black hooded sweatshirt with red lettering, and black jeans.
"Sacramento is a small place sometimes," said Delaney Roybal, who frequents the area. "Maybe showing it to one person could find the person."
Safety remains a top priority for many people in the downtown neighborhood.
"It has gotten progressively less safe to the extent where I carry pepper spray with me now," said Stone Sing, who lives nearby.
