Sac State To Get Another Parking Garage

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Another parking structure at Sacramento State is scheduled to begin construction in a few months.

School officials announced on Tuesday that the project is scheduled to being in late May 2017. It should be completed by the spring 2018 semester, officials say.

The structure will go up in an existing Lot 1 parking lot south of the Arboretum.

Officials say this garage will be state-of-the-art, with an automated vehicle counting system and a traffic circle that should help prevent a backup on Arboretum Way.

While the structure will eventually hold 1,750 parking spaces, 709 spaces in Lot 1 will be temporarily eliminated by construction work.

It will be the school's fifth parking garage.
