Sac Decked Out Project Will Close Lanes On Highway 50 In Sacramento This Weekend
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Roadwork along Highway 50 is going to cause some major weekend closures, shutting down lanes in both directions between 15th Street in Sacramento and Jefferson Boulevard in West Sacramento.
In some areas the highway will be cut down to two lanes, and some ramps will be shut down, including one running from Westbound Highway 50 to Northbound Interstate 5.
Months after the two-month Fix 50 project, the Sac Decked Out project means big weekend changes—a 55-hour lane closure on the Pioneer Bridge.
The closures begin tonight and won't end until Monday morning.
The biggest concern among drivers CBS13 talked to on Friday was trying to maneuver through lanes that have lost their stripling due to construction work.
Temporary reflectors in the pavement, also known as floppies, have led to many close calls for drivers. One driver we spoke to said they drove a quarter of a mile in a lane that wasn't a lane because of the poor marking.
Caltrans warns the California Highway Patrol will be out in force, and that regular traffic fines will be tripled.
