By Mike Luery
(SACRAMENTO) -- Abe Alizadeh is in trouble. The Roseville-based developer used to own more than 70 Jack In The Box restaurants from Redding to Fresno, but tonight he is eating dinner at the Placer County jail.
Alizadeh has been charged with grand theft and he's now sitting in the Placer County jail until he can raise one million dollars to bail out. And even though he owned dozens of Jack in the Box restaurants across California, he is listed as one of California's top sales tax debtors. See list
Alizadeh currently owes $5.4 million in back taxes and interest, according to the Board of Equalization.
Jail records show Abe Alizadeh is 52 years old. He's been in custody since Thursday at 5 p.m. See records (page 7)
