Roseville Business Lands $1.2B East Coast Solar Power Project

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (CBS13) – A local business landed a billion-dollar contract to provide solar power services to several business projects in New York and New Jersey.

Roseville-based Solar Power Incorporated and their parent company LDK Solar announced Monday a 3-year agreement to provide 150 to 300 megawatts of solar power for KDC Solar.

The arrangement makes SPI the "preferred provider" for KDC, who is trying to supply 100 percent of their customers' electric needs through solar power at business locations across New York and New Jersey.

If the project is fully realized, the deal could be worth at least $1.2 billion for SPI and LDK.

SPI's past solar power projects have included a rooftop solar power installation for the Staples Center and Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, a 40-acre solar farm for Aerojet in Folsom and a rooftop mounting for 20th Century Fox Motion Pictures Studios.
