Rocklin Teacher On Leave During Child Abuse Investigation
ROCKLIN (CBS13) — A teacher is on leave from the Rocklin Unified School District as the subject of a child abuse investigation.
The third-year teacher at Breen Elementary School was put on leave on Monday afternoon, the same day Rocklin Police told the school district they opened a formal investigation into alleged child abuse.
"It's a great school, and to hear that this was happening with a teacher, and obviously some students or a student was rather a shock to me," said parent Mike Baldwin.
Superintendent Roger Stock and police wouldn't comment on where the alleged abuse took place, and whether it's believed any students are victims.
Stock says the teacher is in an intermediate program, grades 4 through 6. No charges have been filed early in the investigation. The teacher's name has not been released.
"We have no indication that this teacher has ever had any complaints or investigations of this type," he said.
The deputy superintendent called each parent with students in the teacher's class on Monday, and a note went out to every parent in the school.
"A huge concern and a huge worry, but I know Rocklin Police will investigate to the best of their ability," said parent Mary Boyd.
