Rocklin Hit By Rash Of Home Burglaries
ROCKLIN (CBS13) - Neighbors in an affluent Rocklin neighborhood are now taking extra precautions like leaving their porch light on. And they have good reason, because police say in the last few months, burglars have been targeting not only this area, but the entire city of Rocklin.
The day after Christmas, neighbors in Rocklin's Clover Valley are shaken up after thieves kicked open the front door of a nearby home, before trying to shoot open a safe. And that wasn't the only burglary. There have been four others in the well-established area in recent months.

"The last two years we've had 9 in that area but in the last 5 months alone we've had," said Rocklin Police department representative Jamie Knoxx.
Police believe the burglaries are connected. And it's not just Clover Valley. In the last four months there've been 60 home burglaries across the city. ADT dealer, Tom Ralston would know, he's seen an increase in business from people buying security alarms.
"We've had about 10 homeowners interested; some Roseville, some Rocklin, some burglary areas, some not," said Ralston.
That's double the amount of orders he usually gets in a week.
"It's a little unusual that so many people in so many systems so soon after the new year," said Ralston.
Ralston says he's also sold systems to homeowners here in clover valley, where neighbors are already taking precautions.
"We have several burglaries around us so we thought we better go out and get an alarm system," said Gene Williams, who bought a security alarm.
Neighbors are also pooling their resources to make sure they don't become victims.
"Well I can tell you this: we're mobilizing. The neighbors are getting together and we're going to stop it," said Marti Messina, who's organizing a neighborhood watch.
Rocklin police say they have implemented extra patrols in the area and they're asking all residents to keep an eye out.
No one has been arrested in connection with the burglaries so far, but police say they're working with other local law enforcement agencies that have seen a spike in the crimes.
