Rocklin Police Searching For Man Who Tried To Lure Students Into His Van
ROCKLIN (CBS13) — Rocklin Police are searching for a man they say has tried to lure students into his van.
Two separate incidents at different locations appear to be connected.
A Whitney High School student didn't want to speak on camera, but he says he's doing OK. He never got inside the van, but says he was just confused about how it all went down.
Police say he was targeted near the senior parking lot in what appears to be an attempted kidnapping. The incident happened at around 7:30 a.m. when he was walking alone. The van pulled up and the man asked if he had any breakfast.
"He pulled up in front of me, and said 'Hey, have you eaten breakfast yet?' so I said, 'No I haven't.' He said, 'Well come on, I'll buy you some.' I said, 'No thank you,'" he said. "I walked a wide arch around his car, so he couldn't do anything to me and I walked onto campus."
The student immediately informed other students and his father, who soon contacted school officials and police.
There was another incident in the parking lot of the RC Willey shopping center off of Lonetree Boulevard on Nov. 19. Students there ran off.
Police say the descriptions were almost identical.
The man is described as an older white male in his 40s or 50s with gray hair who is unshaven. The van is a greenish grey color or tan.
