Rocklin Man Turns Himself In On Charges Of Embezzling $37,000 From School Group
ROCKLIN (CBS13) — The treasurer of a Rocklin charter school's parent group has turned himself in on charges of embezzling money.
Police say Frederick Lacker confessed to stealing $37,000 meant to serve kids in his own children's school.
Det. Sgt. Bart Paduveris led the investigation into the allegation of embezzlement from a parent group Lacker volunteered to oversee as treasure at Rocklin Academy Charter School.
"What happened is this organization actually funds the yearbook for the Rocklin Academy School, check came back insufficient," he said.
No one came to the door at the Rocklin home listed as Lacker's most-recent address.
A former coworker wouldn't talk at Intuitive Networks, the Rocklin business where Lacker had been the president until September.
Lacker has a Placer County civil case against him filed by a Rancho Cordova collection agency.
"These kids lose out, everybody loses out," said parent Dan Hoy. "Everybody loses out on something like this."
The Placer Herald reports the school board authorized the school to use general fund dollars to pay the parent group's outstanding debt.
What Lacker allegedly did with that $37,000, investigators won't say.
"I can't discuss that any further right now, because even though he's been arrested, there's still other work to do in the case," Lacker said.
