Rock Slide Closes Road Into Yosemite
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (CBS13) -- One of the major roadways into and out of Yosemite National Park has been closed after large boulders cracked and fell onto the roadway.
The National Park Service said the boulders toppled at about 11:00 a.m. Thursday just inside the park boundary on Highway 140.
Authorities closed the road to traffic just east of El Portal and are redirecting drivers to Highways 120 and 41.
Highway 140 will likely remain closed for at least a day while the road is cleared and the stability of the hillside is verified.
Nobody was injured.
