River Cats Season Opens Thursday Night
By Brian Shepard
Sacramento (CBS13) -- It's going to be another exciting year of baseball in Sacramento!
The Sacramento River Cats begin their season this Thursday night as they host the defending Pacific Coast League Champion Tacoma Rainiers in the first game of a four game series at Raley Field. The River Cats look to avenge last year's early first round exit from the playoffs when the Rainiers defeated them 3-2 in a best-of-five game series.
The River Cats have boasted four PCL Championships of their own in 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008 before being knocked out of the playoffs each of the last two years. Posting a W/L record of 79-65 last season, the River Cats won their fourth consecutive division title, edging out the Fresno Grizzlies by four games.
The first 7,500 fans receive a free River Cats Schedule Cling. Check the website for special promotions on select beverages, food items and souvenir giveaways.
