River Cats Fans Win If "Moneyball" Wins Oscar
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The Sacramento River Cats are getting Oscar fever and giving fans of the team reason to be fans of the movie "Moneyball."
If the Brad Pitt movie wins an award Sunday night, people who bought the River Cats "Franchise Frenzy Pack" will get one free exhibition game ticket.
"Moneyball" is how General Manager Billy Beane, played by Pitt, helped guide the small-market Oakland A's (Major League affiliate of the Sacramento River Cats) into a World Series contender during the 2002 season.
"Moneyball" is up for Oscars in six categories.
