According to a source, Gay's decision to opt out of his 2016-17 contract is design to "increase pressure on the organization to trade Gay sooner rather than later."
The Kings have tried to trade Gay during the off season though no deal has currently been reach.
The forward has a $14.3 million player option for the 2017-18 season and can make $13.3 million this upcoming season.
