Manager Shot In Cell Phone Store Robbery
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The manager of a cell phone store was wounded Wednesday afternoon after a shot was fired during a robbery attempt, and police are working to investigate whether the incident is connected to at least two similar robberies in recent days.
The Sacramento Police Department said two Hispanic male suspects forced their way into the MetroPCS store on the 5300 block of Power Inn Road after 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, ordering the manager to get onto the ground and demanding cash.
One of the suspects fired a shot at the manager, wounding him in the ankle, police said. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The victim is expected to recover.
Authorities said the shooting took place less than an hour after armed robbers held up another MetroPCS store on Stockton Boulevard. A Boost Mobile store was also robbed in a similar manner on Tuesday.
Police surrounded an apartment complex near the intersection of College Town Drive and La Riviera Drive late Wednesday night after receiving a tip that the suspects were inside one of the units, and although authorities have detained several subjects and recovered at least one weapon, no arrests have yet been reported.
