Relief Ahead After Record Breaking Temperatures

Have you had enough of the heat? Relief is on the way.

Sacramento easily broke the 1973 record high of 104 degrees for June 8 after topping off at 108 degrees.

Many other valley locations were well into the triple digits and record-breaking heat.

Sunday will be a much better weather picture as a low-pressure system helps to kick up the delta breeze and add cloud cover.

This will drop temps a good 10 to 15 degrees on Sunday, with highs hovering in the upper 80s and low 90s.

That same weak storm system will usher in some moisture, bringing the chance of mountain thunderstorms for the next few days.

Sunday afternoon storms that fire over the Sierra could roll into the foothills and even the valley.

One concern though is that the moisture-starved storms could just produce dry lightning, which could spark a fire.

Temperatures will level out to seasonal norms for Sacramento this week with most days reaching highs in the mid-to-upper-80s.
