Recent Midtown Crimes In Spotlight At National Night Out
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Midtown residents on edge after robberies and murder looked to each other for answers as part of the National Night Out.
It's sort of like a block party, with food and conversation.
But in Midtown Sacramento, the talk is serious. On this National Night Out, neighbors are still on edge.
Since July, there have been five armed robberies here and one unsolved murder in March.
"The neighbors are really the eyes and ears."
But despite the recent Midtown violence, there's still hope.
"Everyone kind of knows each other. You see a familiar face, you know where to go and who's going to be looking out for you. We're kind of all in the same boat so we really do look out for each other."
Neighbors in Oak Park are also coming together, and police admit they need their help.
"If we see somebody that's not supposed to be here, and there's something going on, then we let somebody know."
More than 37 million Americans and Canadians participated in the nationwide event.
