Rainy Week Pushes Sacramento Above Normal Already For April
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Steady rain the past three days has already pushed Sacramento above normal totals for the month of April.
Record rainfall of 1.16 inches was record at Sacramento Executive Airport on Thursday and many valley locations received more than 2 inches of in a 24-hour period ending Friday morning.
Heavy rain early this morning caused minor flooding of creeks in Rancho Murieta and ponding on roads across our area
Low snow fell overnight in places like Grass Valley (2,600 feet), where 3 inches accumulated.
The ski resorts have benefitted nicely from the late-season storm. Sierra-at-Tahoe, for example, received nearly 2 feet of new snow in 24 hours and is up to nearly 4 feet for the week. There's a winter storm warning for the western slope of the Sierra above 3,000 feet until 8 p.m. Friday.
Downtown Sac is now at 66 percent of normal to date for the "water year" that began in October, a big improvement after a record dry start to the season.
There's a chance of more showers Friday but the skies are expected to clear overnight in advance of a sunny weekend where the temperature is expected to climb back up to the 70 by Sunday.
