Rain And Snow Melt Force Increased Water Released From Folsom Dam
FOLSOM (CBS13) – Recent rains and increasing snow melt are forcing the Bureau of Reclamation to increase releases from Folsom Dam in order to make more room in Folsom Lake.
Bureau officials will release an additional 2,000 cubic feet per second from the dam between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday morning.
The increase from 5,000 cfs to 7,000 cfs is expected to last through mid-May.
Officials warn that people fishing, boating or recreating on the American River downstream should take safety precautions due to the increased flows.
