Raiders Sell Out Fifth Straight Home Game
OAKLAND (CBS13) -- The Oakland Raiders have once again avoided a local television blackout for Sunday's game against Denver after selling out their fifth consecutive home game.
The 1:05 p.m. game will be televised in the Sacramento market on CBS13.
The Raiders (4-3) are coming off their bye week and are looking to get back in the win column after an ugly performance against Kansas City two weeks ago when they were shut out 28-0.
New starting quarterback Carson Palmer, whom the Raiders acquired in a trade with Cincinnati, made his Oakland debut in the second half against the Chiefs and threw three interceptions. Kyle Boller started the game for the Raiders and also threw three picks.
Coach Hue Jackson expects a much-improved Palmer on Sunday after the veteran quarterback used the bye week to learn the playbook and get better acquainted with his receivers.
"I just think his rhythm and timing … his tempo, his mannerisms, how he goes about calling the offense. I think it was a really good few days during the bye week," Jackson told KHTK's Grant Napear on his weekly radio show.
"Our players understand the time is now and we have an opportunity."
The Broncos (2-5) come in off a 45-10 home loss against Detroit. Quarterback Tim Tebow, whom Denver switched to as the starter after a slow start to the season, was sacked seven times and turned the ball over twice against the Lions.
Oakland beat Denver 23-20 to open the season.
Five sellouts is new ground for the Raiders, who only sold out once in each of the past two seasons.
