Proposal To Turn Part Of Rocklin Golf Course Into Housing Far From A Hole-In-One
ROCKLIN (CBS13) — A proposal to turn part of a golf club into a neighborhood in Rocklin has people in the area calling the plan far from a hole-in-one.
The idea is to rezone two areas of Rocklin Golf Club and build a number of single-family homes.
Some residents near the golf course say this is a game changer, while the developer says very little will change. But both sides have come out swinging.
Melanie Connors is worried about what will happen if planned development gets approved at the Rockin Golf Club across the street.
"It's not just an eyesore it's a safety issue," she said. "There are other projects they can consider that are not going to be detrimental to the community."
She echoes the feeling of many neighbors who are teed off about the proposed homes on the putting green. They will try to convince the city council not to approve the rezoning.
Rocklin golf club owners say they can't afford to keep the golf course without developing some open space for single-family homes. They also say they will donate an area of green space for neighbors.
But, critics charge this is just one step toward developing the entire golf course one piece at a time.
