Prescribed Fires Planned At Lake Tahoe This Week
STATELINE, Nev. (AP) -- The U.S. Forest Service plans some prescribed fire activities the rest of week at the south end of Lake Tahoe near Stateline.
Fuels management crews plan to light the intentional fires to help thin overgrown stands of trees off the Kingsbury Grade. If conditions allow, they also may resume operations in the Angora area in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., below Angora Ridge Road.
Agency officials warn that the project may produce a smoke plume resembling that of a wildfire but that crews monitor the flames and weather conditions closely.
They say smoke-sensitive residents should consider staying indoors.
