Plea Hearing Postponed For Pregnant Murder Suspect

HAYWARD, Calif. (AP) -- A plea hearing for a pregnant mother charged with killing a Northern California nursing student has been postponed.

An Alameda County judge on Monday rescheduled the hearing for Giselle Esteban of Union City for Sept. 19 so that she could obtain an attorney.

The 27-year-old Esteban charged Friday with murder in connection with the death of 26-year-old Michelle Le, who disappeared more than three months ago at a Hayward hospital where she was doing a clinical rotation.

Police believe Esteban, a former friend of Le's from high school in San Diego, attacked the nursing student in the hospital's parking garage. Le's body has not been found.

Esteban was arrested last week and has been held without bail. She appeared in court briefly Friday but didn't enter a plea.
