Powerful Storm Moving Through Sacramento Region
A storm is moving through the Sacramento region on Thursday that's expected to drop 1-2 inches of rain in the valley, along with bringing strong winds.

Watch out for ponding water on your evening commute as heavy rain is expected.

11:45 a.m. Update - Get ready for a wet and windy Thursday across Northern California and into the Sacramento area.
We have a host of watches, warnings, and advisories associated with this storm system. There's a high-wind warning for the mountains for gusts topping as much as 70 mph.
A winter storm warning will kick in tonight for the mountains for snow above 7,000 feet. And a wind advisory for the valley and foothills is in effect until 6 p.m. We're expecting south winds of 20-30 mph, gusting to 40 mph.
As for rain, we're expecting 1-2 inches in the valley today and 3 inches in the foothills.
We've got a flood watch for some excessive rain and runoff and even a flood warning on the Truckee River, which is expected to crest just above flood stage late tonight.
The heaviest rain will move through our area between around noon and late tonight.
Temperatures will hover in the 50s as the wet weather moves through.
