Powerful Storm Bringing Strong Winds, Rain Thursday
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A storm will arrive on Wednesday night that will bring more rain than the storm that hit last week.
Across our area, we'll have mostly cloudy skies on Wednesday evening, but overnight Wednesday and into Thursday morning we'll start to hear significant amounts of rain pounding on the rooftops. we'll have 1-3-inches of rain in the foothills Thursday with a foot of snow in the mountains.
In Sacramento, we could see totals at 2.17 inches. In Auburn, Grass Valley and Blue Canyon, we could see up to 4 inches. Above 5,000 feet, we could see more than a foot of snow in the mountains.
Temperatures will drop into the 50's on Friday. Strong winds are also accompanying this storm. It'll get up to 30-40 miles per hour with gusts in the 50's. According to the National Weather Service, the wind gusts could be the strongest we've seen in years.
Caltrans is hard at work clearing out storm drains. The National Weather Service suggests we do the same on our streets. You may also want to bring in some of your Christmas decorations as the storm arrives.
