Police: Vallejo Woman Hired Teens To Kill Ex's New Wife
SAN PABLO, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say a 36-year-old Vallejo woman faces attempted murder charges for allegedly hiring two teens to kill her ex-boyfriend's new wife.
The Contra Costa Times reports that prosecutors have charged Darlene McDade on Monday with two counts of attempted murder for trying to kill a San Pablo woman on two occasions.
Police said McDade, who was in a custody dispute with her ex-boyfriend over their young daughter, allegedly told two teens she would pay them to shoot the woman.
Police said the woman was struck with a pellet in her leg after running from a man armed with 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun on May 4.
Authorities say the woman was shot at while driving a week later.
A 15-year-old boy, a friend of McDade's older daughter, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
McDade and the teen are in custody. Another teen was released to his parents.
