Man Arrested For Armed Robbery, Shooting At Golf Course
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A suspect allegedly opened fire after robbing a golf concessions worker but was quickly captured after a pursuit that involved a stolen golf cart, authorities said.
The Sacramento Police Department said 45-year-old Jim Aldridge held up a Haggin-Oaks Golf Course hospitality cart carrying soft drinks and snacks near the 10th hole.
Employees said the victim was a new hire and had only been working for two weeks.
Doug Patterson, who said he was golfing with his wife nearby, said he spotted the commotion and saw the suspect jump into a golf cart and try to flee the scene.
"I took off with a club and he turned around and started shooting at me," Patterson said. "He's a terrible shot."
At least four shots were fired but no bystanders were wounded, authorities said.
Aldridge allegedly tried to escape on Roseville Road before ditching the golf cart and fleeing on foot. Officers caught up with him and took him into custody a short distance away on charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
Aldridge is being held on $200,000 bail.
The employee targeted by the robbery was not injured during the incident.
