Police Searching For Rocklin Burglary Suspect Who Assaulted Teen
ROCKLIN (CBS13) — Police are searching for a home invasion suspect after a teenager was attacked after he walked in on a burglar in his family's home.
Neighbors in the quiet community on Cabrillo Way can't believe their street is the focus of a vicious attack, and now criminal investigation.
Police say on March 14, a teen arrived home around 6 p.m., only to find a burglar rummaging through the family's belongings.
"And when he saw them he was trying to sneak out without alerting the burglar," said Rocklin Police Lt. Scott Horrillo.
Startling the burglar, the teen tried to make a run for it, but couldn't make it to the front door. The suspect wearing a mask was in hot pursuit and grabbed and choked him from behind.
"The son was able to struggle free and run to his mom who was just a short distance away at a grocery store," he said.
The suspect fled in the opposite direction.
"The suspect ran to the back of the house exited a back door and jumped the fence," he said.
Some neighbors are now on high alert, but still trust the investigative process. Many understand no community is immune to random violent crime.
Police describe the suspect as a man in his 20s or 30s, about 6 feet tall with an average build.
