Alcohol May Have Contributed To Fatal Car Crash Overnight In Sacramento
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - One person was killed and two others injured in a single-car crash early Monday morning in south Sacramento.
Police say around 2:19 a.m., three people were in the sedan traveling southbound on 43rd Avenue approaching Riverside Boulevard when the driver tried to make the turn, but left the road and crashed into a tree. The car caught fire.
Neighbors heard the crash and called 911.
"Obviously with dry brush in the area, that could have been a concern. It seemed like it was a small vehicle fire at the time. The fire department was here fairly quickly to put it out," said a Sacramento Police Department spokesperson.
A 28-year-old woman in the backseat of the car died. The driver, a 25-year-old female, sustained life-threatening injuries. She and a 24-year-old male who was sitting in the front seat were taken to UCD Medical Center.
Sacramento police Officer Michele Gigante says alcohol may have been a factor.
