Fatal Stabbing Outside Medical Marijuana Dispensary Gang-Related
SACRMENTO (CBS13) –Three men were stabbed, one fatally, outside of a medical marijuana dispensary that was having a sale on pot in honor of 4/20 Day on Wednesday. Police confirmed to CBS13 that the incident was gang-related.
The stabbing happened around noon in front of the R&R Wellness dispensary on Quinta Court off Auburn Boulevard.
"It was pretty chaotic," said customer David Alvarez. "There was a lot of people, it's 4/20 today so basically it's a celebration of the club, so I'd say 100 people [were there]."
Customers said everyone was having a good time until a fight broke out.
"I got to these things every year for the last 5 or 6 years, I've never seen anything like it," said Alvarez.
Sacramento police said the suspect got into an argument with a group of men after leaving the dispensary. Rumors had swirled earlier in the day that the stabbing was over a parking space. The attacker is accused of stabbing three men, killing one of them, then taking off in a car with a woman and a child.
Cops caught the suspect not too far away from the scene. They say it's an incident that happened in an unlikely place as pot dispensaries typically don't see much in the way of crime.
The dispensary, R&R Wellness, opened just a few months ago.
The other two stabbing victims are said to be doing fine.
