Police Investigating After Shots Fired At Elk Grove Home

ELK GROVE (CBS13) – Police are still looking for a gunman who fired several shots at an Elk Grove home -- a home officers visited three times overnight.

Forensic teams combed an Elk Grove neighborhood after someone fired 10 rounds into the home on Clairina Way. No one inside the home, including a child, was hurt.

Officers had previously been at the home around 10 Tuesday night when the woman living there, Alexis Verrett, said her ex-boyfriend followed her back to the house after she jogged past his house.

The ex-boyfriend was gone, but officers contacted him at his home and told him to stay away.

Police were again called when something, possibly fireworks, exploded outside the Clairina Way home around midnight.

Then around 3 this morning, someone fired shots into the home.

Verrett believes her ex-boyfriend, who is the father of her son, is behind the shooting.

"You just hear gunshots out here, so everyone ran to the back of the house," said Verrett. "Obviously it's him. His car is missing now. He's not there."

Verrett says she doesn't know if he was trying to scare them or actually hurt them.

Police are searching for him, but have not confirmed that he had any connection to the shots fired at the home.

Police have not released the ex-boyfriend's name.
