Police Hunting For 9-Year-Old's Abductor
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) -- Riverside police are hoping that video of a pickup truck will help them find a kidnapper who took a sleeping 9-year-old girl from an apartment, assaulted her and dumped her on a street miles from her home.
Police told a news conference Tuesday that they are trying to enhance the video.
The FBI has also joined the investigation 60 miles east of Los Angeles.
The girl remains hospitalized with undisclosed injuries but is expected to recover. She was initially described as being in serious condition.
The girl was taken from a second-story apartment during the weekend by someone who climbed in an unlocked window. She was later dumped from the car. Residents told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that she knocked on several doors seeking help. Nobody let her in but police finally were called.
