Police Corruption Suspect Arrested On New Charges

DISCOVERY BAY, Calif. (AP) -- One of the suspects in a Contra Costa County police corruption case is behind bars again after being arrested on suspicion of spousal battery and other charges.

The Contra Costa Times reports that Louis Lombardi was arrested at his home Tuesday night on suspicion of misdemeanor spousal battery and other charges.

He was being held on $1 million bail.

The 39-year-old Lombardi is facing seperate charges alleging that he and three other former police officers who worked for a county anti-drug task force had taken drugs seized during raids and sold them.

Lombardi, a former San Ramon police officer, had been assigned to the Central Contra Costa Narcotics Enforcement Team, known as CNET, at the time of his arrest in May.

Lombardi and the others have pleaded not guilty to the drug and corruption charges.
