DUI Suspect Pulled From Sunroof, Detained After Pursuit
SOUTH SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Deputies have detained a male subject after a police chase that started in Rancho Cordova.
Deputies said they observed the man in a car in a Rancho Cordova parking lot with a large bottle of vodka on the console and binoculars. The deputies thought that was strange and asked him to get out of the car, but the suspect reportedly refused, nearly running one of the deputies over trying to get away.
Officials say the chase started in Rancho Cordova at Mather Road, went up to Folsom and then back down Highway 50 at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. The suspect exited on Power Inn Road, and the chase ultimately ended south on Industrial Parkway when the suspect turned on a court with no outlet.
Deputies blocked in the suspect's car, but he still refused to get out of his vehicle. K9 officers were then released on the suspect and he was apprehended.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken away by ambulance to treat injuries from the K9. Officials have not yet said what the suspect will be charged with.
The sheriff's department confirmed Thursday night that the suspect was intoxicated.
Additionally, two deputies went to the hospital to be treated for glass cuts.
