Police Bust Ceres Drug Lab And Arrest 1 Person

CERES (CBS13) - A search warrant for suspected power theft turned into a sizable drug lab bust in Ceres on Thursday.

Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency investigators went to a home in the 1600 block of Sungate Drive in Ceres to investigate allegations of ongoing power theft. There, they discovered about 130 pot plants in a second-story living area that was converted into a marijuana grow area. They also say they found about two ounces of honey oil in the kitchen area, which had been converted into a butane honey oil lab, according to a Ceres Police Department statement.

Approximate street value of the operation is estimated at $100,000.

Police arrested 31-year-old Omar Segura of Ceres on charges of cultivation of marijuana, manufacturing a BHO lab, theft of utilities, and committing a felony while out on bail. A second suspect ran from the area and is still at large.

Honey oil is a form of cannabis where the marijuana plant is introduced to a solvent extraction process.
