Police Accused Of Pocketing Snacks During Raid At Marijuana Dispensary
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Three Santa Ana police officers have been charged with misdemeanor petty theft and one with vandalism for allegedly stealing snacks and damaging surveillance cameras during a raid on a marijuana dispensary that was recorded on video.
Officers Brandon Matthew Sontag, 31; Nicole Lynn Quijas, 37; and Jorge Arroyo, 32, were charged Monday with one count each of petty theft. Sontag was also charged with one misdemeanor count of vandalism.
The three were serving a search warrant on the marijuana dispensary May 26 after authorities concluded it was operating without permits.
The Orange County district attorney's office says the officers stole protein bars and cookies from a break room. Sontag is also charged with smashing surveillance cameras' lenses.
Messages seeking comment were left with the officers' union and the Police Department.
