Police: 3 Arrested After Taking Woman, 95, From Hospital To Cash Check
MODESTO (CBS13) - Three people were arrested after they allegedly took an elderly woman out of a hospital to make her cash a check for them.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon. Modesto Police say a social worker reported that a 95-year-old woman who suffers from heart disease and dementia had been checked out of a hospital against medical advice.
Officers found the woman at her Modesto home after the suspects dropped her off.
It was soon discovered that the suspects - 38-year-old Rosemary Bazan, 38-year-old Manuel Flores and 19-year-old Salyce Bazan - had driven the woman to the bank so they could try and cash one of her checks. However, the check was too big, so the suspects settled on making the woman withdraw $1,000 in cash.
The three suspects were arrested and are facing charges of kidnapping, elder abuse,possession of completed check with intent to defraud and conspiracy.
