Plane Crashes Onto Roof Of Building

POMONA, Calif. (AP/CBS13) - A small plane has crashed onto the roof of a building in Southern California, sending one person to the hospital.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said the single-engine Piper PA-28 went down under unknown circumstances Sunday afternoon and ended up on top of a commercial building in Pomona, east of Los Angeles.

Two people were aboard the plane and one of them was taken to the hospital via Helicopter as a precaution, according to Melanie Flores, a supervising dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

An aerial shot from a KCBS/KCAL news helicopter shows the nose of the plane punching a hole through the roof. There was no sign of smoke or fire.

Gregor said the plane was heading to Brackett Field Airport in the nearby city of La Verne when it crashed.  The building has a sign that indicates it may be a State of California Building.
