Placer Food Bank Goes Mobile
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – A local food bank is going mobile with the Placer Food Bank just unveiling a new, mobile food pantry.
Sonya Ables is grateful for the new mobile pantry. Instead of delivering to agencies, volunteers are now handing out food directly to those who need it most.
"I just can't explain it to have these people here. It's just amazing," Ables said.
The truck is filled with 13,000 pounds of free food and children's clothing, available for hundreds of families.
"The hope for people now is we can fulfill the short-term need of people's hunger," said Lance Watson from the Placer Food Bank.
Everything from pantry staples to fresh produce.
"I just have a vision of people, young kids especially, with a bowl of cereal in the morning and having a good dinner tonight and knowing we helped them have that," Watson said.
Volunteers work hours to ensure everyone received what they need.
The next mobile food pantry is scheduled for Sept. 27 in Rocklin.
