Pipe bomb explodes in garbage can on Fairfield trail
FAIRFIELD — Fairfield police said a pipe bomb detonated along the Linear Park Trail on Monday.
A pipe bomb had been placed by an unknown individual inside a cement garbage can on the trail near the Suisun Fairfield Cemetery and detonated, the Fairfield Police Department said.
No injuries occurred in the explosion, which happened around 1:15 p.m., police said. The only damage recorded was to the garbage can's lid.
Fairfield police said an active search is underway for the person responsible.
