Pilot Who Crashed In Sierra Hospitalized In Reno
RENO, Nev. (AP) — The pilot of a small plane has been hospitalized in Reno after he crashed in the Sierra near the Truckee Tahoe Airport.
Authorities say the pilot's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Placer County Undersheriff Joe Salivar says the pilot was the only person on board when the single-engine plane went down in the Tahoe National Forest near Martis Peak about 3 p.m. Thursday.
He says the pilot used a cellular telephone to report the crash. Rough terrain forced rescuers to bring in helicopters to pick him up.
The pilot's name has not been released.
