Piggee Pleads Not Guilty To Arson Charges
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- The young man accused of setting a fire that caused millions of dollars in damage to the Westfield Roseville Galleria has pleaded not guilty to two counts of arson.
Alexander Piggee, 23, entered the plea today at a federal courthouse in response to two counts of arson – one at a Wal-Mart that caused minor damage, and another at the Roseville Galleria -- that caused $55 million in damage. He was first charged with arson by the County of Roseville; however, those charges were dropped when a federal indictment was handed down last week.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 8.
Piggee faces the maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for each count, with a minimum mandatory sentence of 5 years.
