Pedestrian Killed In Modesto Accident
MODESTO (CBS13) -- A man died after being hit by two vehicles in Modesto on Wednesday night.
Police officers responded at about 8:20 p.m. to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of McHenry Avenue and Briggsmore Avenue.
Medical personnel and patrol officers at the scene found a man critically injured in the roadway. They performed CPR and emergency lifesaving measures, but the man later died at a local hospital from his injuries.
According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates the man was in the northbound lanes of McHenry south of Briggsmore when he was struck by an SUV traveling north. Moments later, the man was hit by a second vehicle also traveling in the nourthbound lanes of McHenry.
Neither of the drivers appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
The man's identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. He was described as a white male in his late teens or early 20s.
Traffic on McHenry between Granger and Briggsmore was diverted for several hours.
