Pedestrian Killed By SF Muni Bus

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Authorities say a woman has been killed after getting hit by a bus in San Francisco's Castro District.

Police say the woman was hit by a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus as she walked through a crosswalk at the intersection of 18th and Hartford street around 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Sgt. Michael Andraychak says the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released. Police believe she was in her 20s or 30s.

Andraychak says the bus was apparently empty of passengers at the time because it was being driven to another line that had an excess of passengers.

Andraychak says police had no reason to suspect the driver was impaired, but that he would undergo routine tests for drugs and alcohol.
