Parolee Drove To Probation Office In Stolen Car
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A parolee found himself under arrest after allegedly driving to a probation office in a stolen car, authorities said.
Clifford Amey pulled up to the Sacramento County Probation office on Florin-Perkins Road in a gold Mercedes earlier this month, but within seconds, authorities were alerted that the vehicle had been stolen from a Sacramento dealership weeks ago, authorities said.
The Sacramento location is the only probation office in the state that has an automated license-plate scanner camera installed.
Amey was supposed to report to a different probation office and drove to the Florin-Perkins location by mistake.
The camera has already led to the recovery of dozens of stolen cars that used the parking lot.
