Overnight Deluge Causes Street Flooding And Sewage Problems

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Heavy rain overnight caused some problems this morning in and around the Sacramento including flooded streets and overflowing sewer systems.

Several roads like 59th Street in the Tahoe Park area are covered with several inches of water in some places.

A combination of water and raw sewage washed over on Park Way at 34th Street in East Sacramento.  So much rain fell, the sewer system could not handle it and blew a manhole cover off.

Authorities are also monitoring Deer Creek just above Scott Road in Sloughhouse.  The creek is washing over the road and is closing in on flood level.

In the past 24 hours, Sacramento has seen more than two inches of rain, most of it falling between midnight and 2 a.m.
