Outraged Residents Help Clean Park Spray-Painted By Vandals

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Residents outraged over a local park being vandalized with messages of hate took back the park Tuesday, scrubbing it clean of the racist graffiti that scarred it.

Vandals hit Mae Fong Park on Redding Avenue Sunday night using red spray-paint to write things like KKK, the n-word and swastikas on different areas of the park including the walkways and playgrounds equipment.

Tuesday, residents, along with City Councilman Kevin McCarty and city work crews, grabbed brushes and towels to clean the park.

Residents say they will now be keeping a closer eye on the area and will report any suspicious activity.
