One Killed, Five Hurt In Oakland Shootings
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- One man was killed and five others were wounded in unrelated shootings Saturday night in Oakland.
Dominic Carter, 19, of San Leandro was shot and killed, two other 19-year-old men and a 32-year-old woman were wounded at 7 p.m. in East Oakland, police said.
Carter died at the scene. The other men and the woman suffered wounds that were not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting, but Officer Angelica Mendoza told the Oakland Tribune that the woman was shot while waiting for a bus. Police don't believe she was an intended target in the attack.
In a second shooting, police said a 19-year-old Richmond man and a 14-year-old girl were wounded during an exchange of gunfire after dozens of people left a party in the city's downtown area around 11:15 p.m.
An Oakland man believed to be the gunmen was arrested, and a handgun was recovered from him, police said. His name was not released.
The shootings Saturday night come after one man was killed and two others wounded in a three separate shootings Friday night and early Saturday in Oakland.
