One Dead, Two Wounded In Oakland Shootings
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- One man is dead and two others hospitalized after separate shootings in Oakland during the night.
Police say 33-year-old Lamont Smith was shot and killed as he walked near his East Oakland home around 8:23 p.m. Friday.
Oakland police Sgt. Sean Fleming told the Oakland Tribune that investigators are not sure if Smith was gunned down by someone in a passing car or by someone on foot.
Then around 10:22 p.m. a man was shot near Mills College. Police released few details, but said the victim was hospitalized in stable condition.
In the third shooting, a 24-year-old San Leandro man was critically wounded when a gunman opened fire around 1:10 a.m Saturday as a group gathered outside a vigil being held for a man who was shot and killed Thursday night.
Police have not determined a motive for any of the shootings. No arrests have been made.
