81-Year-Old Man Dies In Watt Avenue Crash
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - One person has died in an accident at Watt and Pope avenues in Sacramento on Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash involved a Mercedes sedan and an Volkswagen SUV. It happened shortly before 3 p.m. in front of Del Paso Country Club in the Arden-Arcade area. Two lanes of southbound Watt Avenue were blocked to clear the scene.
An 81-year-old man was driving north on Watt when he apparently became disoriented and turned into oncoming traffic. He collided with another driver in her 20s. The elderly man was declared dead at the scene. The woman was reportedly conscious when taken away in an ambulance.
The identity of the victim wasn't immediately available. He was reportedly trying to get to his dentist's office before turning into traffic.
